想要學好英文，大量閱讀是必備的，真的不能偷懶
我推薦的書都是我剛開始閱讀全英文書籍
可以大概懂故事在講什麼而且覺得好看的
完全是主觀的東西沒有其他意思
每個人感受不同要自己去讀完之後才能體會
真的建議看英文書的時候要聽CD
Youtube 上都有很多原聲帶
而且可以
1. 練聽力
2. 知道單字要怎麼唸 (幫助記憶)
3. 專注在閱讀，不會跳行或神遊到不知到哪裡去
剛到美國讀書的時候
每天上文學課都很痛苦
因為他們都會一起聽CD看書然後討論
我都只能在旁邊發呆
加上我個人又很討厭英文
所以過了6個月我的英文才有進步到至少可以了解故事大概在講什麼
我第一本在文學課看完的書 (看完的時候超感動) 是 Tuesdays with Morrie
這本書我會喜歡的原因是因為
1. 故事每一章節不會很長而且每一章節都有一個主題
2. 那些主題都很具有思考性
3. 他是美國高中文學課必讀產物所以練英文的同時又可以滿足學校需求
4. 不會很難懂而且他有出電影，書+電影其實效果很好
5. 角色不多，主要的只有4個
中間看到有幾章可能會覺得有點無聊
但看到最後就會的這真的是本好書
第二本是 Of Mice and Men (人鼠之間)
這本書真的超級無敵有名，全世界那種
在很多網站書單上都有這本書
但我個人不太喜歡
要練英文的話就更不推薦了
因為它有很多文法錯誤
而且他是用古代人講話的方式 (有點像文言文但沒那麼嚴重)
角色太多了初學者很難記住誰是誰，誰是幹嘛的
他的故事背景是1920年代美國經濟大蕭條
畢竟這本書在各大榜單上佔據多年
還是有它值得看的地方
當初看完寫申論文
題目是: 這本書該不該繼續成為美國高中生必讀書籍
我寫認同 (以下是我的原文寫得不好的話原諒我也還在學...)
A book that is worth reading for high school students has some characteristics, like completed structure, theme, clear-cut characters, etc. The most important thing for high school students is that there are some good points to think about. John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is a book which has these characteristics, this means it’s good enough to be a generational required read in high school curriculums throughout the United States.
The setting of the book is in the 1930s. During the great depression, people lost their jobs and they were treated unequally. Students have learned the causes and results of the great depression in history class; of the immigrant during that time in geography class; and of the rights of worker in civic class. In Of Mice and Men, George takes Lennie south to find new jobs. They face different problems and advantages. The book explains the society situation of the great depression in only six chapters.
Most readers wonder, “Why did George kill Lennie, even if they are best friends?” It had not been a long time since George took Lennie to the new place. But they have to face a lot of problems, especially when Lennie keeps getting in “trouble”. We can see the relationships between Lennie and George, the strong friendships under the life pressure, and also the relationship between with other characters like Candy, Curley and his wife. High school is a little society, students are learning how to work, communicate, and treat others. After they graduate from high school, they will face more and more issues as the book describes the society phenomenon.
Another good thing in this book is its theme. Of Mice and Men is a book that can be read in any culture and time, not only in America or previous generations, but also people in the entire world. These social events happen everywhere, although the background is in America, the issue, which is like the depression, is not only in America.
Overall, a good book can improve student’s writing ability and help them understand different history, culture, and other’s opinions better. In this short book, Of mice and men, it mentions racism, Capitalism and Socialism, and sin and vice. So many issues that should be taken seriously are shown in this book. These are worth thinking for high school students because they are the main group of people in the next generation. For these reasons, Of Mice and Men should be read in high schools.
但是對美國人來說就沒有我講的這些問題
而且他故事的背景跟架構還是很值得探討的
只是不太建議初學者看
可以把他排到書單後面一點在讀
第三本我現在還沒看完看 Monster (禽獸)
我才看一半而已但我很喜歡這本書
因為這本書可以學很多法律知識跟用語 (我的個人喜好啦)
這本書有點小難
因為這本書內容沒有到超多
他都是對話式的而且是在法庭上
所以遇到看不懂的地方就會整個亂掉
背景主題是在講有一個小男孩經過一家店
那家店的老闆被搶劫然後被殺
他就被拖下水變成共犯了
講了很多推理、法律、歧視
這本書是第一本讓我覺得我還會想再看一次的書
等我看完能在講更詳細的東西
金融課的課外讀物是 Rich Dad Poor Dad (富爸爸窮爸爸)
學金融的應該都聽過這本書
這本書跟文學沒什麼關係
但他就是一本很故事性的金融書
內容蠻好懂得
中間有一段提到企業理財的那部份我自己是看不是很懂
但大方向在這本書裡都是一樣的
只要記得那些大方向
這本書看的就值得了
學英文跟學理財兩不誤啊~~
心理學的課外讀物是 A Child Called It (它)
不敢看一些很噁心的東西的人要有心理準備
因為這本書是在講虐待兒童
男主角的媽媽會對男主角做很恐怖的事情，例如
叫他吃尿布裡的東西，想把男主角放到瓦斯爐上..之類的
總之就是很寫實
美國人一定都知道這本書
這本書也不會到很難
它的社會價值大於文學價值
有空看看還是不錯的
或是當心理學系，社會學系的課外讀物都可以
To Kill a Mockingbird
這本書文學價值很高
之前本來要看但是被我逃掉了...
這本書很長很厚很多
但很多美國學生都很喜歡
我也不知道這本書在講什麼
總之就是一本文學必需品
之後有空應該會去看
最後
我給自己今年的目標是讀 The Great Gatsby (了不起的蓋茲比) (大亨小傳)
這本書是美國文學中最最最經典必讀的書
每個美國文學課老師一定都會跟你這樣講
我是覺得看了大綱感覺很好看啦
但聽說很難還沒膽去試
怕讀到一半放棄哈哈哈
之後有發現什麼好書再放上來
